Another new game to keep you busy....

Posted by Mark Stephens on 15:57, 1/3/2021 |

The one man games factory that is also known as Jeroen Vermeulen has released another game on PlingStore called Cavern.

Like his previous game (Infinite Burner) this another conversion from the RapsberryPi book Code the Classics using the AMCOG Game Development Kit.

Have you played it yet?

Read our interview with Jeroen.

I'd be very intrested in an article looking at the conversion process.

The book uses pygame to provide graphics and input handling, and of course python for the game logic.

The Amcog kit is BASIC-oriented, so I assume Jeroen is re-coding the Python in BASIC. How easy does he find this? How well do Amcog Kit functions map to Pygame? Have there been any unique challenges...

It seems like quite an interesting area, and a real "used for real" case for the Amcog kit. For new users, or those thinking of dabbling, seeing how Jeroen used the kit to port the games would, I think, be quite fascinating.
