![[Iron Lord]](/news/acornarcade/iron_lord.gif)
Time to mention our favourite iron lord,
Jason Togneri, who has been hard at work producing the official web site for the Arc conversion of the strategy game
Iron Lord. The site was
quietly (due in part to our summer news apathy!) launched earlier this year - and includes tips, cheats, and the full game to download.
If you fondly remember the classic game, hop over to ironlord.acornarcade.com.

Not that I'm having a moan (always good to see a news update) but shouldn't this be on AcornArcade? Cheers! |

Is this site a pisstake? They can't be serious. The download page is a blast from the 80's with all it's $ and hardcoded muck. The screenshot of the desktop being used to create the website is just ridiculous. Please, someone tell me this whole site was actually created 10 years ago? Is this Iconbar's take on the recent El-reg bent of windup articles? |

If you're going to rip the site, at least have the guts to reveal your identity! I quite liked the site. Lots of content and easy to navigate. |

Well personally I just don't look at websites anymore unless they use Java for the navigation menus, shit loads of pointless Flash animations and Real media files to convey their actual content to me. Arsehole! |

> The download page is a blast from the 80's with all it's $ and hardcoded muck. I don't think that's the fault of the web site or its designer, rather that the game itself is rather old - if you read the FAQ you'll notice development started when Arthur was still around, so yes, it is a blast from the 80's. Many games and apps didn't aim to be portable and had hardcoded muck, or used the current directory. Besides, I don't think Tim Berners-Lee wrote the first web browser until the 90's, so a download page from the 80's would be quite a foresight. |

Of course, you're right about the development screenshot. It was two things: 1) it was done on my A5000, because I started work on the site before I had gotten my RiscPC, and 2) it was a set-up - really, I don't usually have my screen that crowded. Also, it's for an original design; you'll notice the site's a little different now :-) Anyway thanks for paying attention and sorry, I didn't realise they would use that really, really bad webcam image :-/ |

Although perhaps black text on dark grey background isn't the easiest on the eye... :P |

> 2) it was a set-up - really, I don't usually have my screen that crowded Bah, that's what a RISC OS screen should be like, mine is. Multitasking on other OSes = the computer doing >1 thing at once Multitasking on RISC OS = the user doing >1 thing at once |
